Cubana Chief Priest speaks after E-Money's arrest

Celebrity bartender Cubana Chief Priest has lamented that the “oppression of the Igbos in Nigeria may never end.  He made the statement following the arrest of socialite Emeka Okonkwo, popularly known as E-Money, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged Naira abuse.

However, the Cubana Chief Priest emphasised the community’s resilience, stating that they will continue to thrive and support each other.

“The oppression of us Igbos will never stop, but let me tell all of you, we will never stop. We don’t die; we multiply. More billionaires are coming up. Come 2027, we will support and vote for who we want to. We won’t be broken. We will even be stronger”.

Recall that in 2021, he reacted to Obi Cubana’s arrest, calling for the anti-graft agency to release him, citing that Igbos are accustomed to such treatment.

E-Money was taken into custody on Monday night at his residence in the Omole area of Lagos for allegedly spraying United States dollars, a violation of the Foreign Exchange Act.

Cubana Chief Priest praised E-Money’s recent contributions to the Southeast region, particularly his Easter “Homecoming” concert, which drew large crowds. He hinted that E-Money’s rising influence might have drawn unwanted attention from authorities seeking to suppress prominent voices from the region.

“This is a guy who just did everything to push up Southeast with his just-concluded Home Coming Concert this Easter. I knew they would come for him because they just saw his strength; they were doing this so they could break him to make him succumb in supporting them under duress”.

In his message to E-Money, Cubana Chief Priest assured him that he would emerge stronger from the ordeal, drawing parallels with the luxury and status symbol of a Rolls Royce. “It’s nothing, brother. I have been there. It will make you stronger. It’s just like our Rolls Royce – a location for the rich and famous, a status symbol”.
