Nigerians on social media are heavily criticising Yinka Theisen after she made a lengthy post demanding that May Yul-Edochie drop her ex-husband’s surname and make herself available for a court hearing.
In her post, Theisen accused the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul-Edochie of seeking attention and dragging her divorce proceedings for years. She wrote:
“Madam, you filed for divorce. After that, everyday you must remind us that you still have not just the man’s first name, but his last name. You can’t back out now. You have not allowed us to rest for over four years. You must bring this to completion. Have some class. Divorce is a real business, not an attention seeking tactic. Ensure you are present in the next hearing and stop running.”

Theisen went further, insisting that May should remain on the streets, as Judy Austin, the actor’s current partner, is making him happy. He ended his post with, “Remain in the streets, street life looks good on you.”

However, the post backfired almost immediately as netizens descended on Theisen, questioning both her audacity and her identity.
Social media users argued that divorce is a personal journey and that May has the right to keep her marital name for reasons tied to identity, branding, and family. Others accused Theisen of hypocrisy and meddling in matters that do not concern her.

As of now, May Yul-Edochie has not responded to Theisen’s remarks.
