The Voice Nigeria coaches perform tribute to the late Sound Sultan. Watch here

The Voice Nigeria season 3 is on right now and the show features music stars Darey, Waje, Yemi Alade and Falz as talent coaches.

On the latest episode, they performed an emotional tribute to the late Olanrewaju Fasasi also known as Sound Sultan. The coaches, along with their talents performed a rendition of Sultan’s 2016 hit song ‘Motherland’.

The veteran musician passed away at the age of 44, following a hard fought battle with Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma. He died on July 11, 2021.

The Nigerian men’s basketball team, D’Tigers dedicated it’s wins against the USA and Argentina to the late artiste. The team also paid tribute to him by wearing warm up shirts with his face.

Sound Sultan was a beloved veteran of the Nigerian music industry and an avid supporter of Nigerian basketball. He was an icon that used his music to speak against poverty, corruption, bad governance and societal ills in Nigeria.
