Here Are All the Winners of the 2019 Future Awards

The 2019 Future Awards held last night in Lagos. The event has been termed the Nobel Prize for Young Africans and the most important youth awards by Forbes.

The Future Awards are a set of prizes that the Future Project presents annually. They aim to celebrate and accelerate innovation, creativity, and enterprise among young Africans aged 18 to 31.

It has produced over 150 winners and over 1,550 nominees since its first edition in 2006.

The Future Project has a mandate to build empowered citizens across Africa, through inclusive enterprise and active citizenship.

The event took place last night at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. Toni Tones and Falz served as the hosts for the event.

Without further ado, here are all the winners of the 2019 Future Awards.

Young Person of the Year and The Prize for Music

African Giant Burna Boy, on Sunday, emerged winner twice at the 2019 Future Awards.

The 2020 Grammy Award nominee got the Young Person of the Year Award. Also, he bagged the Prize for Music at the event.

The Future Prize for Agriculture

Uka Eje — founder of the Thrive Agric that has funded over 15, 000 farmers across Nigeria.

The Future Award Prize for Media

Samuel Ajiboye clinched the gong as a young entrepreneur. In addition to that, he is a country manager of Alpha and Jam. Alpha and Jam is a company that has a presence in four African countries.

The Future Award Prize for Sports

Mr. Israel Adesanya, Nigeria’s World Champions in the Ultimate Fighting Championship mixed martial art, a kick-boxer got the prize for sports.

The Future Award for Education

This one went to Olaseni Cole. Cole runs an empowerment programme which prepares and equips children with tech skills. The project has impacted over 3,000 children in Lagos and Ogun.

The Prize for Fashion

Sandra Tuboboreni, CEO, TUBO, a multi-award winning global brand.

The Prize for Technology

Zang Luka Bot, inventor of the Foot House. Foot House is an interaction traditional mouse. The mouse allows people with upper limb disability to interface computers with their feet.

The Future Awards for Africa for Public Service

Adetola Onayemi, an international lawyer, the head, Trade Remedies/Assistant Trade and investment in the Office of the Vice President.

The Future Award Prize for Arts

Ken Nwadiogu, a multidisciplinary artist and contempo-realist. He founded the fast-growing Artland Contemporary Ltd.

The Future Award for Acting

Timini Egbuson, an actor in the MTV television series Shuga.

The Prize for Advocacy

32-year-old Hamsat Lawal, who led a successful campaign in over 40 countries. Also, Lawal specializes in practical issues related to climate change and others.

The Community Action Prize

Isaac Success, founder, Dreams from the Slum, an empowerment initiative to reduce the number of out-of-school children in Nigeria.

The Prize for On-Air Personality

Simi Drey Adejumo, a broadcaster with Beat FM.

The Future Award for Film Making

Dare Olaitan for his efforts in the blockbuster film, Ojukokoro (Greed) and Knockout Blessing. He also clinched the 15th Africa Movie Academy Awards, AMAA.
