There Are Many Naira Marley Songs I Wish I Sang- Wizkid

Nigerian music-star Wizkid, has said that there are many Naira Marley songs he wished he sang.

The singer disclosed this in a chat with Beat 99 FM, following the release of his long-awaited fourth studio album, Made in Lagos, which he dropped on Friday after he had teased and talked about it for nearly three years.

Explaining why it took him so long to release the album, Wizkid revealed that he had to re-record the album 10 different times before releasing it.

“You know, I blew up young. I came into the game young. So every time I make an album, it’s almost like I don’t plan it. I don’t sit down and say I want to make an album in like two weeks, two months, or one year,” he said.

“Everything is just part of my growth. In the last three years, there are so many things that have happened to me. I’ve been blessed with a new son. I’ve been blessed with a lot; learned a lot of lessons.

“We’ve been hit by one of the craziest things in the world which is the pandemic. All of that adds to why the album took longer. Believe it or not, there were ten different ‘Made In Lagos’ before we made this one.”

When asked if there were songs he wished he owns, Wizkid said that even though there are many Naira Marley songs he wished he sang, he can’t say the things the controversial singer says in his songs.

His words: “On my playlist? I listen to everybody. There are so many Naira Marley songs I wish I sang but I can’t say the things he says.

“There are people you don’t think I listen to that I do. Because you, as a musician, you’d be stupid not to pay attention to words around you, especially the young. There are so many Naira Marley songs I wish I sang.

“But I can’t say the things he says, although they’re things I think about in my head. That’s why I love him.”
