Tochukwu Ojogwu, Nigerian hip-hop artist popularly known as Odumodublvck, has fired back at critics of his rap style, claiming their disapproval stems from intimidation over his growing success.
In a recent interview with The Beat 99.9 FM in Lagos, the rapper declared that his 2023 breakout single, Declan Rice, is the most culturally impactful Nigerian hip-hop song ever released.
Odumodublvck pointed to the global recognition of the track, which was used by Premier League giants Arsenal to unveil their record signing of English midfielder Declan Rice in July 2023. He described the track as “the biggest digital asset” ever posted by the football club on social media.

“If upcoming rappers try to sound like me, they often get discouraged by the backlash,” he said. “But I did ‘Good Devil Wells White’ with Larry G and dropped an A1 verse.”
He continued, “We’ve done verses in English, Vernacular, Patois — every language. But some people still try to discredit it because they’re intimidated. Let them show me a single rap line more culturally impactful than my line in Cast. In the past 20 years, what Nigerian hip-hop song has had more global impact than Declan Rice? None. That song is Arsenal’s biggest digital asset on social media. Go and check it.”

Reacting to critics who say he doesn’t qualify as a rapper, Odumodublvck dismissed the claim as false and disrespectful.
“What metrics are we using here?” he asked. “They say I’m not a rapper — that’s a fallacy, it’s ungrateful. And God will punish all of them.
