Nollywood veteran actress Remilekun Oshodi, popularly called Remi Surutu, has opened up about the heartbreaking online harassment she faced after publicly declaring her support for President Bola Tinubu.

In a recent interview, the Yoruba film star recounted how some internet trolls, in a cruel manner, weaponised the tragic loss of her daughter to attack her political choice.

She explained that the critics resorted to mocking her daughter’s death, something that happened years earlier due to sickle cell complications, simply because she endorsed Tinubu and believed in his vision for Nigeria.

The actress described the experience as painful, calling it one of the cruellest forms of political trolling that crossed into personal grief.

Surutu, who has passed through past hardships including the passing of her child and other family losses, refused to back down. She stood firm on her support, insisting it stems from genuine conviction in Tinubu’s leadership and ongoing reforms, while reaffirming her support for him in 2027.

Addressing her critics directly, she challenged them, saying if they believe the president is underperforming, they should put forward a credible alternative from their own side rather than hiding behind anonymous abuse.

The actress urged her fellow supporters not to be cowed by such negativity, emphasising that standing by one’s beliefs even in the face of mockery requires strength.
