Nollywood actor Odunlade Adekola has sparked mixed reactions over the outfit he wore to Funke Akindele’s movie premiere, Behind the Scenes, held on Sunday, December 7.
Adekola arrived dressed in jeans and a T-shirt promoting his own upcoming epic film, Warlord: Olori Ogun, a look that stood out sharply from the glamorous, red-carpet-ready outfits worn by other guests.
His choice quickly stirred debate online. Many critics argued that it was inappropriate for him to wear a shirt advertising his own movie to another actor’s premiere, calling it disrespectful and poorly timed.
However, others defended him, insisting there was nothing wrong with promoting his work and that both stars were simply “selling their market.”
One user, “This Odun eh… you still wore your own premiere top.”
One added: “He’s coming from the cinema. Nothing is wrong with him wearing his own movie shirt to Funke’s premiere. It’s all love. Everybody go sell their market.”
Another added: “This is not right at all. It has no meaning. Both of them are selling their market. They’ll probably even share fans.”
One added: “By force by fire, una go see Warlord.”
One remarked: “Nothing on earth will make me spend money to watch Odunlade’s movie after that LAKATABU.”
The debate continues as fans remain divided over whether Adekola’s outfit was a harmless act of self-promotion or a breach of red-carpet etiquette.
