‘This Is Us’ actor Ron Cephas Jones dies at 66

Ron Cephas Jones, the Emmy-winning actor, has sadly passed away at 66 due to a prolonged pulmonary issue.

The representative for the actor shared this sad news, stating that Ron Cephas Jones was beloved for his warmth, kindness, and generosity.

He was known for his role as William Hill on the popular TV show “This Is Us,” where he portrayed the biological father of Randall Pearson, played by Sterling K. Brown.

Jones won two Emmy awards for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for this role, one in 2018 and another in 2020.

Sterling K. Brown, who portrayed his on-screen son, shared a touching tribute on Instagram along with a still from “This Is Us” in memory of the late actor.

“Life imitated art today, and one of the most wonderful people the world has ever seen is no longer with us,” he wrote. “[Jones] has passed away, and the world is a little less bright,” he added. “Brother, you are loved. And you will be missed. Keep them laughing in the next phase of existence, and I’ll see you when I get there.”

In addition to his notable role in “This Is Us,” Ron Cephas Jones was recognized for his work in various other projects, including appearances in “Law & Order,” Marvel’s “Luke Cage,” and Apple TV’s “Truth Be Told.”
