Timaya Is Addicted To Butts in “Sili-kon” Video
Award-winning Afrobeats and dancehall king Timaya just dropped the accompanying video to his new track “Sili-kon”. In the video, Timaya plays a butt addict who goes to a priest to confess.
The video begins in black and white as the “Telli Person” singer solemnly walks in and confesses his addiction. The priest listens to his confession in shock and worry.
The scene switches to an Ijaw party with dancing, drinking, and of course, butts. Timaya delivers dancehall-infused vocals and drops lines in Ijaw as the sexy girls indulge him by shaking it.
For most of the video, Timaya seems to be as overwhelmed as we are at seeing this array of big shaking butts. Other times, again like us, he seems to absolutely love it.
The most interesting part of “Sili-kon” is that it’s been a while since we heard Timaya sing in Ijaw. Since he found his sound in dancehall music, Timaya has not sung in his native language.
However, it seems like he has realized that indigenous music and foreign genres don’t have to be mutually exclusive. In fact, Timaya looks his happiest in his etiboh with a bottle in his hand like a true Ijaw man.
Even though the song is about butts, Timaya manages to inspire feelings of community with this small party scene. The video closes with the priest asking Timaya whether or not he wanted to change his ways.
Timaya doesn’t answer. And as we well know, no answer is an answer.
