TJ Benson & Other Writers Join Masobe Books

Masobe Books has announced the coming on board of six new writers.

Masobe Books, a relatively new publishing concern based in Lagos founded in 2018 by Othuke Ominiabohs, aims to encourage reading and publish exceptional literature that would rival those published in the West whom we have relied on, as guide in the past decades.

Masobe Books has three imprints: Masobe (Masobe authors are paid royalties for their work according to the contractual agreement), Makere (Makere authors pay for some of the services such as; editing, printing, packaging and possibly distribution and marketing. All kinds of books are accepted under this imprint) and Oremaha (focuses basically on children’s books).

The six authors as published on Masobe website are;

  • Journalist and award winning author of, “I do not come to you by Chance” and “Buried beneath the Baobab Treee,” Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani.
  • Author of “Tomorrow Died Yesterday,” and “A Broken People’s Playlist,” Chimeka Garricks.
  • Angel Patricks Amegbe, poet and psychologist, debuts on this platform with “The Days of Silence.” She is the founder of “happyblacky” blog.
  • Writer, social commentator and public intellectual, Michael Afenfia, is the author of “When the Moon Caught Fire,” “A Street Called Lonely,” “Don’t Die on Wednesday” and “Paxoid” which he co-authored with his teenage son, Biboye.
  • TJ Benson is a Nigerian writer and portrait photographer whose work has appeared in several online journals like Jalada Africa, Expound and Bakwa magazine: in print magazines like Harvard’s Transition Magazine, Saraba’s ‘Transitions’ issue, Catapult and more recently Gay Magazine a partnership between Roxane Gay and Medium.
  • Founder of Masobe and author of “A Conspiracy of Ravens” and “Odufa: A Lovers Tale,” Othuke Ominiabohs, is also one of the six authors.

Masobe is a word derived from the Isoko Language of the Isoko people who hail from the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. It means ‘Let Us Read’.
