Kristen Bell, a top Hollywood actress is currently facing heavy criticism over her anniversary tribute to husband Dax Shepard.

This comes after the actress via her Instagram on Friday, thanked her husband for promising not to kill her.

Sharing their photos, she wrote: “Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: ‘I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I’m heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would.’❤️”

Reacting to the controversial post, many netiziens were angered by the remarks, noting that October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

“Just an fyi, posting this caption during domestic violence awareness month is unbelievably tone deaf :/ please reconsider,” one user wrote.

Another critic said, “Thats a wildly sad and insensitive thing to say considering it’s domestic violence awareness month and thousands of women have died a the hands of the man they trusted.”

Someone else wrote, “That’s….a very weird thing to say.”

Controversial post

While many fans expressed their disapproval in the comments, some celebrities took it as a joke such as Shepard’s former “Parenthood” co-star  Mae Whitman, who wrote, “Only because we’d never let him get away with it ❤️.”

Comedian Howie Mandel joked that “He should write for Hallmark,” while the official account for “Dateline” simply commented, “Screenshotted.”

The couple met in 2007 and got engaged in 2009. They tied the knot in 2013 and have since welcomed two daughters: 12-year-old Lincoln and 11-year-old Delta.
