1. Monalisa Chinda

Kicking off the list is light-skinned Nigerian actress Monalisa Chinda.
In 2014, Nollywood actress Monalisa Chinda opened up and revealed that she was a victim of domestic abuse in her former marriage. This led to the crash of her first marriage. Monalisa Chinda recently got married to Tonye Victor.
2. Fathia Balogun

Yoruba actress Fathia Balogun was formerly married to Saidi Balogun. They were a power couple not only in the Yoruba scene but in the movie industry in general. Unfortunately, their marriage did not last. It was riddled with stories of domestic violence.
3. Foluke Daramola

The busty actress, who revealed she was raped when she was a teenager, was also a victim of domestic abuse in her first marriage to Tunde Shobowale.
4. Tiwa Savage

Leading Nigerian musician, Tiwa Savage, recently revealed that she is looking to settle as a second wife. This recent revelation comes a decade after her marriage to talent manager Tunji Balogun, also known as TeeBillz, hit rock bottom.
Savage disclosed that her ex-husband had been hitting her before and after their marriage.
5. Tonto Dikeh

The fallout between Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh and her ex-husband, Olakunle Churchill, was hugely publicized in 2018.
Dikeh shared a video on her Instagram page to recount how she was allegedly pummeled by Churchill. The actress claimed that her estranged husband brought in pastors after he beat her up, but that didn’t do much because he never owned up to his faults.
6. Chika Ike

When Chika Ike announced that her divorce was finalised, she received lots of backlash on social media for her failed marriage. Netizens speculated that “she was not a loyal wife” to rumours that “she got married for money”.
According to her, her ex-husband, known as Mr Eberibi, physically assaulted her for years.

Veteran thespian, Georgina Onuoha, has also hinted that she was in an abusive marriage with her ex-husband, Dr. C Igwegbe.
The veteran actress reposted a woman’s confession of being married to a man who molested, beat, and humiliated her.
She wrote, “I can imagine her state of mind and what she went through.
I, for one, would have said these same prayers 6 years ago with so much hate in my heart, and I can count many others who will equally be saying the same prayers. But grace, mercy, and forgiveness surpass the pain of wickedness. I succumbed to God’s grace and strength.
Most often, it’s unfathomable what some women put each other through.”
8. Etinosa Idemudia
Nigerian actress has come out to claim that she suffered severe domestic violence after getting married to her first husband at the age of 22.

Speaking about her past in an interview with Chude Jideonwo, the talented actress expressed her deep fear of her ex-husband, who constantly asserted his dominance over her, rather than treating her as a friend or equal partner. Recounting her desperate attempts to find solace, she confessed, “It got to a point where I was on drugs. Whenever he was coming home, normally as a woman, you should be happy that your husband is coming home, but I would just be stoned and doped up, so that no matter what he says or does, I’m just looking at him. Just so that there would be peace.“
9. Muma Gee

In 2011, Nigerian recording artiste, Muma Gee, walked down the aisle with Nollywood movie producer, Prince Eke. After six years of marriage, Muma Gee and Prince Eke decided to end their union.
The singer said she decided to end her long-suffering and torture by filing for divorce against Nollywood actor, Prince Eke.
10. Mercy Aigbe

In 2017, the leading Nigerian actress, Mercy Aigbe, shared photos showing injuries allegedly sustained from domestic violence, and then became publicly involved in advocacy against domestic abuse.
The actress was previously married to Lanre Gentry; they had two children together.
The actress got married to businessman, Kazim Adeoti, in 2022.
