Mexican social media influencer César Gastélum has been tragically shot dead while livestreaming on TikTok outside a fast-food restaurant in Culiacán, in an incident that has sent shockwaves across social media.
Gastélum, who had built a following through his comedy videos, was broadcasting live alongside two friends on Tuesday when two men reportedly arrived at the location on a motorcycle.
According to reports, one of the suspects approached the influencer and opened fire at close range before fleeing the scene with the other rider.
Local media reported that responding officers initially believed the victim was a food delivery rider because he and his companions were wearing bright yellow jackets and carrying delivery bags.
However, authorities later confirmed that the deceased was César Gastélum.
Police have launched an investigation into the killing and are currently examining cartridge casings recovered from the scene.
Investigators are also reviewing CCTV footage from the area in a bid to identify the suspects and determine the circumstances surrounding the attack.

So far, no arrests have been made, and officials have not revealed a possible motive for the shooting.
It also remains unclear whether the content creator had received any threats before the fatal incident.
However, Gastélum’s death adds to a growing list of violent attacks involving social media personalities in Mexico, raising fresh concerns about the safety of online influencers in the country.
