The notice comes amid widespread online outrage over resurfaced 2012 tweets by popular singer Simi. In the old posts, Simi described playful interactions with children at her mother’s daycare. Some interpreted these remarks as sexualizing minors, thereby calling for investigations into the daycare’s operations from around 2010–2015.

An X user recently claimed personal attendance at the facility as a child and alleged inappropriate actions by Simi toward him and others. Although from the press release made by NAPTIP, no name was mentioned, but the timing of this has sparked speculations online.

Simi has since addressed the backlash, explaining the tweets were casual, humorous observations from when she was 23 and assisting her mother while pursuing music. She reaffirmed her long-standing opposition to sexual assault and denied any perverse intent.
