TrueYarn: Liz A VS Toyin A, Davido’s Love For Attention, Saraki’s Curious Moves

In this age of social media, if you blink twice, you may miss something. And because everything is now fast-paced, clarity is often lost in the noise of click-bait headlines, unending chatter of Twitter lords and visual excesses of Instagram sensations.

Enters TrueYarn to sift through the clutter, offer some insight, common sense and help you read between the lines of the ‘things wey dey happen for obodo Naija’.

Here goes:

Liz A VS Toyin A

Two Nollywood actors from the Yoruba sub-sector are fighting dirty – and we are loving every minute of it.

For the past few days, both Liz Anjorin and Toyin Abraham have been providing juicy content for bloggers and newspapers, increasing page clicks and putting more money in their pockets.

Anjorin and Abraham have gone as far as bringing lawyers into the picture, making the legal minds smile to the bank in this money-tight month of September, especially after the summer break had drained many pockets.

If you are unaware of the origin or cause of the entire boruhaha, not to worry, you aren’t missing much. It’s actually nothing important.

In any case, we are here for all the back and forth. We shall milk it, lap it up until they both get tired and move on.

Davido loves attention

In everyone’s minds, Davido is all but married to Chioma Rowland.

Even before proposing, he often referred to himself as a married man, and recently announced his wedding date after both families had a pre-introduction meeting.

So, imagine our surprise and amusement when, a few days ago, he shared on social media that Chioma “said yes” ..… on the eve of Wizkid’s release of his much-hyped first solo single of the year.

As if it wasn’t bad enough that Wizkid had to compete with Naira Marley’s ‘Puta’, Davido just had to make things worse for the Starboy.

Bad belle behaviour.

Wizkid’s ‘Kobiko’

Now to Wizkid.

Many fans (and of course non-fans) are understandably disappointed with his ‘Ghetto Love’ single, with some calling it below-par.

Actually, it’s not their fault for expecting too much.

Burna Boy is to blame for raising the bar so high – such that many now expect Wizkid to jump to such heights – forgetting that he is a short man.

At a time when the African Giant is blazing a new trail, many can’t just stomach the fact that Wizkid is still singing Kobiko, Kolobiko’.

Sigh.

Beware of best friends

19-year-old Regina Daniels hasn’t been married for two minutes and the wolves are already starting to creep out of the woods.

According to our resident Auntie-know-it-all, Sister Stella, the best friend of the actress has her sight set on her husband, 58-year-old Ned Nwoko.

The rumour mill says the friend, known as Cassie, is obsessed with the man old enough to be both of them’s grandfather – and that she cannot control herself around him.

To keep her marriage from being described as short-lived, Regina is said to have banned Cassie from her house.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. Alakoba somebody!

Blame Omashola for Khafi’s eviction

Dear Omashola, It’s ‘DIANE’… like ‘DIANA’ but with an ‘E’.

If you are wondering why Omashola needs to know this, we will help you out.

Khafi could still be in Big Brother Naija house were it not for Omashola’s inability to properly pronounce Diane’s name.

He often struggles to say her name while in the diary room, so it’s quite plausible that he didn’t want to look embarrassed in front of the other housemates, hence resorting to ‘eeny-meeny-miney-mo’ when it was time to save and replace himself.

That’s our theory. If you are in doubt, have you been watching the show?

Reward for stalking

Who says there’s anything creepy or weird about stalking a celebrity on social media when there may be light at the end of the tunnel?

Nowadays, the rules are changing and you never can tell what may open doors for you on social media.

After tagging Drake on Instagram for several months, David Jagun, a Nigerian undergraduate, finally got his desire a few days ago – and he is expected to join the superstar on one of his foreign shows.

So, dear stalkers, don’t give up. Keep tagging Blackface on Instagram. Fortune could smile on you and he may just invite you for a smoke session one of these days.

Saraki’s curious moves

Disgraced, beaten and evicted from the senate, Bukola Saraki appears to be laying the groundwork for a comeback.

No?

Okay, how does one explain branding instructional materials for school pupils with his face and party logo?

That’s not even the worst part of it. The items were reportedly acquired with public funds and resources.

And guess what? The Kwara state government directed that the items should be sent back to the former senate president.

Nonsense.

Side-EYE

Naira Marley’s reign of nonsense lives on – unfortunately.

Recently, he released a new song which has an offensive title and said, “my music can cure depression. Side effect- you might lose home training”.

He is right on the second point because, if anything, his music brings out the animal in us.
