Tube Awards Will Revolutionise the TV Industry in Nigeria

With plans underway for the unveiling of The Tube Awards, an event totally dedicated to the television industry, organisers of the awards have expressed confidence that the awards will revolutionise the television industry in Nigeria.

Speaking on the award, Director of Tube Afrique, organisers of the awards, noted that apart from rewarding the hard work of creative and technical professionals in the industry, the organisation, also plans to nurture talents as well as partner with other stakeholders to develop capacity.

According to her: “oftentimes, big screen stars are the most celebrated in the art and entertainment industry.

“But over the years, a great number of celebrities have found fame on TV. From reality TV shows to drama series, these artistes captivate millions of households with their interpretation of their characters.

“Take for instance, Sola Sobowale whose enduring fame can be traced to Wale Adenuga Productions riveting Super Story Series. However, the dearth of a reward system that recognises and celebrates the talents of these individuals often leads them to chase after the big pictures. Tube Afrique is set to change that narrative with the launch of the Tube Awards.”

Temitope Duker, while assuring that there are exciting moments for television lovers in Nigeria noted that the awards will not just be another glamorous, even though “glamour and TV go together, but with Tube Afrique, we are pushing the envelope further.

“We are looking forward to having an Academy where young talents seeking a place in TV can be properly groomed in the arts and business of Television and give the veterans a chance to mentor them. There are also plans to launch a foundation that will solely be dedicated to this cause. So, you see we have lofty plans.”
