US singer Jimmy Buffett passes away at 76

Jimmy Buffett, the American singer best known for his 1970s hit “Margaritaville,” has died at the age of 76.

According to a statement on his website, the Grammy nominee, who released over 30 albums, died on Friday.

“Jimmy passed away peacefully on the night of September 1 surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs,” the statement reads.

“He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many.”

Jimmy Buffett, the renowned American musician, best-selling author, and entrepreneur, has passed away.

The cause of his death has not been disclosed, but reports indicate that he spent time in the hospital prior to his passing.

Buffett was born in Mississippi and raised in Alabama before moving to Nashville, Tennessee.

In 1977, he achieved musical success with the release of his album “Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes.”

The album featured the hit song “Margaritaville,” which remained on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 22 weeks.

This song also inspired the musical “Escape to Margaritaville,” which made its Broadway debut in 2018.

Jimmy Buffett’s catalog of hit songs includes tracks like “Fins,” “Come Monday,” “Son of a Sailor,” and “Cheeseburger in Paradise.”

His music, often associated with a carefree beach lifestyle, earned him a dedicated fan base known as “Parrotheads.”

In addition to his music career, Buffett was a best-selling author and entrepreneur.

He established a range of ventures, including resorts, clubs, restaurants, merchandise shops, and retirement communities, all under the Margaritaville brand.
