Adebayo Salami, a veteran actor and filmmaker, popularly known as Oga Bello, is set to set to celebrate six decades of contributing to the entertainment industry.
To commemorate this achievement, Salami will release a new film titled “Her Excellency”, which premieres on June 29, 2025, and will be available in cinemas nationwide from July 4. During an exclusive interview, the veteran actor revealed that his son Femi Adebayo who is also a filmmaker and actor is the producer of the project.
Salami’s journey began in 1964 with the Young Concert Party group, led by Ojo Ladipo. He later assumed leadership of the group and made his cinematic debut in the first-ever Yoruba film, “Ajani Ogun”. Throughout his career, Salami has been a notable force in the Yoruba film industry, producing and directing numerous movies.
Oga Bello reflected on the growth of the Nollywood industry, highlighting improvements in talent, film quality, and financial rewards for actors. While speaking on the major health challenge some veteran actors face while aging, he attributed his own vitality and longevity to staying at peace, which he believes is key to his youthful energy despite aging. Additionally, he prioritizes getting enough rest and eating well, keeping his routine simple and focused on overall well being
Salami’s son, Femi Adebayo, expressed pride and gratitude for his father’s legacy, describing “Her Excellency” as a masterpiece that showcases Salami’s artistry and passion for filmmaking. Femi said, “What better way to honour this incredible milestone than with the release of his latest masterpiece…”
