The management of legendary Fuji singer Alhaji Kollington Ayinla, popularly known as Kebe n Kwara, has strongly refuted circulating online reports claiming the 76-year-old artist has died.
In a statement issued on Saturday and signed by Shamsudeen Ilori on behalf of the family and the HSKA Foundation, the reports were described as “false, malicious, and misleading,” fabricated by individuals seeking attention and online traffic.

“Alhaji Kollington Ayinla is ALIVE, WELL, and IN GOOD HEALTH. Baba is currently enjoying himself, surrounded by family and close associates, and still blessing the world with his unmatched Fuji music dexterity and wisdom,” the statement read.

The family accused “heartless people” of deliberately spreading the falsehood to cause distress and disrespect a living legend. They warned that those responsible would face legal action and urged the public and the media to verify information before sharing it. “Spreading false death news is not content, it’s wickedness,” the statement added.
Born Abdulrasaq Kolawole Ilori on August 20, 1949, Kollington is a pioneer of Fuji music alongside the late Sikiru Ayinde Barrister. He helped popularise the genre in Nigeria from the 1970s onward.
However, this is not the first time such rumours surfaced. In January 2024, the musician publicly debunked similar claims while recovering at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
