WATCH: ‘My Village People’ trailer gives new meaning to ‘Karishika’

The official trailer for FilmOne and HuaHua Media‘s My Village People has dropped and it is interesting, to say the least.

The movie starring comedian Bovi Ugboma (who also wrote the film), BBNaija star Venita Akpofure, Amaechi Muonagor; Nkem Owoh, Ayo Mogaji, Racheal Oniga, Ada Ameh, Theresa Edem, and Sophie Alakija. The Niyi Akinmolayan film is co-produced by Kountry Kulture Network and TMPL Motion Pictures.

Bovi is the main character in the movie, whose life turns upside down after he sleeps with a witch in the village following his sister’s wedding. From the trailer, we can see that spiritual beings are pursuing Bovi’s character and it messes with his daily life. He even unwittingly enters a love triangle between two witches competing for ownership of him.

Speaking about the film earlier this month, Bovi said the film was about more than just superstitions. “In such a time as now where mental health issues are prevalent, it is important to humour the struggles that people face in their lives and this movie does just that,” Bovi shared.

“Everyone goes through unfortunate events that they believe are beyond their control; it is important to have these conversations so that people know that they’re not alone in their struggles. Everyone is going through something.”

My Village People hits theatres on June 11, 2021.
