Wave is the title of Asake’s new single. The single has gradually garnered momentum after it debuted during the early hours of today, Friday, June 21.
The renowned singer-songwriter, whose real name is Ahmed Ololade, worked with British artist, Oakley Neil Caesar-Su, who is better known as Central Cee.
Central Cee is easily one of the most recognizable Grime artists from the United Kingdom. The British rapper was in Nigeria, Lagos state to be precise to shoot some certain scenes from the music video for “Wave”.

Since his mainstream emergence in 2022, Asake has remained one of the most consistent singers in the Nigerian entertainment industry. Releasing two hugely successful albums, Mr Money With The Vibes (2022) and Work of Art (2023), Asake quickly attained prominence and also bagged a Grammy nomination at the 2024 edition, though he didn’t emerge successful in his category, it is simply a glimpse of what is to come.

After conquering Nigeria and the rest of Africa, Asake who is signed to Olamide’s record label, Yahoo Boy No Laptop (YBNL) is prepared to take his music to the international scene. Though he has worked with major artistes from Nigeria such as Olamide, Tiwa Savage and Burna Boy, Asake understands that it is ideal to take his message overseas and work with personalities from the west.
Mr Money tagged Central Cee, a popular figure amongst Nigerian young music listeners for the single, “Wave”. Cee did not disappoint as he gave some of his fascinating bars to enthrall his audience.
The music video for the single was shot predominantly in Lagos state where Asake grew up prior to finding fame.
Equally, this is the first music video Asake will be releasing in 2024, uncharacteristic of the singer-songwriter who was on a roll about 24 months ago.
