A Chinese travel content creator, identified as Xiao Jony, has reportedly shared a disturbing account of his experience while travelling through Nigeria, claiming that he was repeatedly asked to pay money during his journey.
According to the content creator, he was visiting a market and exploring Nigerian culture, including trying some of the country’s local foods, when he was allegedly confronted by members of the public who demanded money from him.
The content creator reportedly questioned why he was being asked to pay.
However, he claimed that the men gave him a shocking explanation, allegedly telling him that they were Nigerian citizens while he was a foreigner and, therefore, had the right to collect money from him.
The experience reportedly did not end at the market.
Jony also claimed that he encountered numerous checkpoints during a short stretch of his journey.

According to him, he passed more than 20 checkpoints within a distance of approximately 10 kilometres, with people at the checkpoints allegedly demanding money from him.
Describing his experience, the Chinese travel content creator reportedly concluded with a blunt warning to other potential visitors.
He said: “Do not come to Nigeria.”
