Nollywood actor Stan Nze has expressed disappointment and frustration following reports that several phones were stolen during the service of songs held in honour of late actor Alexx Ekubo.

Speaking after the emotional event, which he hosted in memory of his colleague and friend, Nze lamented what he described as the declining moral values among Nigerians.

According to him, the incident overshadowed an already painful gathering meant to celebrate the life of the late actor.

He said: “My heart is really full. There’s so much I want to address

He continued: “I hosted my dear brother’s service of song last night. It was one of the hardest things to do. At that service, over five phones went missing. I know at least two people personally Bambam and Susan Peters.”

The actor questioned how anyone could attend a gathering where people were mourning and still choose to steal from fellow attendees.

He asked: “How do you come to a place where people are mourning and you steal from them?”

He continued: “Even if we chase everybody in government out, who will lead? Who will do the job? The government is not our problem. How is your own personal life? You’re saying the government is bad, but you’re wicked.”

Nze went on to urge Nigerians to look inward and take responsibility for their actions rather than placing all blame on political leaders. He stressed that kindness, honesty, empathy and accountability should begin at the individual level.

He said: “You’re not kind with your words, with giving, with sympathy. This is the height of it  people mourning, and you add more pain by stealing from them. May God forgive us”.

Calling for a return to moral values, the actor encouraged Nigerians to speak out against wrongdoing and practise genuine compassion towards others.

He continued: “There’s a call to every Nigerian start doing the right thing in your little circle. Speak up when you see injustice. True religion is caring for people, speaking up for widows, orphans, the needy.

He added: “It’s not just lifting hands in worship. How is your life? Let’s take responsibility for our lives and the ones around us. Speak the truth at all times. May God cause us to do better.”
