Nigerian Afro-Fuji artiste Afeez Adesina, widely known as Destiny Boy, has reportedly passed away at the age of 22.
Renowned for his unique fusion of traditional Fuji music with contemporary sounds, Destiny Boy rose to prominence as a teenage prodigy and quickly established himself within Nigeria’s music scene.

He began his artistic journey at T2 Boys Studios in Agege, Lagos, where he worked as a backup dancer for veteran Fuji musician Pasuma. This early exposure to the Fuji genre played a significant role in shaping his musical style and stage confidence before he fully transitioned into recording music.
Destiny Boy gained nationwide recognition in 2019 after releasing a Fuji-inspired cover of Davido’s hit song If. The rendition went viral on social media, earning him widespread acclaim and opening doors within the entertainment industry.
Building on this success, he released several Fuji-style covers of popular songs by artistes such as Tekno, 2Baba, 9ice and Small Doctor, gradually growing a loyal fan base across the country.
He later shifted his focus to original works, releasing tracks including Lamba, One Transaction, Gbese, Billion Dollar, Mio Gbonkankan and Lowkey.
Reports of his death began circulating on social media on Sunday. The news was confirmed by Bolisco, an associate of Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, who disclosed that the singer had been unwell prior to his passing. According to the report, Destiny Boy reportedly died in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
As at the time of filing this report, neither his family nor management had released an official statement.
However, videos currently making the rounds online reportedly show the singer’s body being conveyed in a vehicle and later arriving at his parents’ home in Ayetoro, Ogun State.
Reacting to the news, Afropop singer Small Doctor took to his Instagram story, sharing a grieving emoji accompanied by a solemn piece of music.
