Whitney Houston’s Hit Song Reaches YouTube Milestone

Whitney Houston‘s hit song I Will Always Love You has officially reached 1 billion views on YouTube. This is the first time a music video from the ’90s by a solo artist reached that milestone.

It’s the fourth ‘90s music video overall to reach a billion views on the online video platform; following Guns N’ Roses’ November Rain, Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit and The Cranberries’ Zombie.

Dolly Parton originally wrote I Will Always Love You in 1973. But it found huge success with Whitney Houston’s 1992 version of the song for the soundtrack of The Bodyguard.

Her version of I Will Always Love You won the awards for Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the 36th Grammy Awards in 1994.

Houston’s version spent 14 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
