Who is Holier Than Senator Abbo- AGN President, Emeka Rollas

Emeka Rollas, president of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria has defended Senator Elisha Abbo‘s appointment as a patron of the guild. ‘Who is holier than Senator Abbo,’ he says, adding that the senator was not convicted of any crime.

The AGN president disclosed this while speaking with Plus TV.

Recall that yesterday, veteran actress Hilda Dokubo led an online protest to demand that the senator be removed from the guild’s patrons list. She was then backed up by fellow actress Kate Henshaw. (Read Here).

Defending the guild’s decision, Emeka Rollas accused the actresses of sensationalism and attempting to dent the image of the guild.

He insisted that the aggrieved ladies should have written to the guild to express their grievances; instead of coming to social media.

Rollas also questioned their membership status, stating that he presides over a guild of 2 million members; and could not verify if they have been participating members in the last two years.

On the appointment of patrons, Rollas revealed that the candidates were usually decided upon by a panel. He said that Abbo was nominated by the members in the North-East for his contribution to their development.

In the same vein, Rollas insisted that although he was aware of the video of Elisha Abbo physically assaulting a young woman at a sex shop in Abuja. “The senator remains innocent until proven guilty by a court,” he said.

He added that the AGN did not appoint him patron as a measure to celebrate him for haven beaten a woman but for his support of the guild members in the North East chapter.
