Who wore it best? Toke Makinwa Recreates J.Lo’s Iconic Versace Dress

Latino singer, Jenifer Lopez may be Popular Nigerian media personality, Toke Makinwa‘s fashion muse. On Sunday February 2nd, Makinwa poured her hour glass curves into an iconic Versace outfit just like the one Lopez wore to close out the runway spring Versace show at Milan Fashion week in 2019.

Makinwa was spotted at the Nollywood’s ‘A Night with the Stars’ event with the theme ”Iconic,” sashaying along in her long Jungle print dress.

Although Makinwa did not style her hair like J.Lo’s, but in one of the pictures shared by the media personality, she struck a pose exactly like the singer.

J.lo’s Green Versace dress

Jennifer Lopez‘s iconic Versace dress at Milan Fashion week in 2019 was a replica of a dress she wore 20 years ago. She delivered a major surprise to guests when she closed the runway at the fashion show—wearing a replica of her iconic Grammys dress, nonetheless.

Instead of a traditional finale model walk, Versace tapped J.Lo to end its show with a bang. Making her official runway debut, the 50-year-old actress and singer walked the show wearing an updated version of her famous plunging palm print dress from the 2000 Grammy Awards. And surprising to no one, she completely slayed.

This marks 20 years since the plunging green palm print first dress first appeared on Versace‘s runway, ahead of the singer wearing it to the music award ceremony. That red carpet moment was so immense and so searched for that it led to the invention of Google Images.

Toke Makinwa channels her inner J.lo

In a post shared on Instagram, Toke Makinwa said she and her team decided to go for J.Lo‘s Iconic Versace look and she got her designer friend, Tolu Bally, to recreate the Versace dress. To be fair, who wouldn’t want to channel J.Lo‘s iconic style? Especially when revisiting some of her sexiest fashion moments.

However, there is no harm in recreating an icon’s most legendary designer looks, so long as fashion police does not call you out.
