Whoopi Goldberg to Return For ‘Sister Act 3’
Nearly three decades after the original film was released, veteran actress Whoopi Goldberg, will return as “Deloris Van Cartier” in Sister Act 3.
Sister Act was first released in 1992. It became one of the highest-selling movie of its kind and was followed by a 1993 sequel of the same name.
It tells the story of “Deloris Van Cartier”, a singer forced to enter the witness protection programme; and be relocated as a nun in a convent.
The third installment of the movie is produced by Goldberg and Tyler Perry and is set to debut on Disney Plus. However no release date has been announced yet.

Goldberg who played the central role since the film’s inception had teased a third installment of the franchise in October.
“For a long time they kept saying no-one wanted to see it, and then quite recently it turns out that that may not be true,” the Oscar winner and TV personality told James Corden.
“People might want to see it. So we’re working diligently to figure out how to get the gang together.”
She added: “Listen — bad singing, great singing. OK singing and then nuns. What’s better than that?”
Sister Act 3 will mark the fourth collaboration between Whoopi Goldberg, 65, and Tyler Perry, 51. The pair most recently worked together on Nobody’s Fool with Tiffany Haddish in 2018.
