Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has openly expressed admiration for maverick musician and social activist Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, despite the latter’s unconventional lifestyle.
In a recent interaction, Obasanjo admitted his initial encounter with the “Area Fada” was far from impressive. “My first encounter with Charlie Boy was ‘jagajaga.’ He looked jagajaga and behaved jagajaga, he did everything jagajaga,” the elder statesman recalled.
However, Obasanjo revealed that deeper understanding changed his perspective. “Later, I began to understand and appreciate him,” he said, highlighting Charly Boy’s authenticity, passion for activism, and commitment to speaking truth to power.
