Senator Ned Nwoko, the Nigerian politician and businessman and billionaire, has dropped his reason for the recent arrest of Ms. Izuegbu Anthonet, widely known as Ann, best friend to his estranged wife, the actress Regina Daniels.
In a detailed statement released through his communication team today, Nwoko outlined the serious grounds behind the police action, framing it as a necessary step rooted in evidence rather than personal feud.
The primary allegations center on criminal defamation; “Ms. Izuegbu Anthonet was arrested in connection with criminally defamatory statements she publicly made, alleging that Senator Ned Munir Nwoko physically assaulted his wife, Mrs. Laila Nwoko, causing a miscarriage. Nothing of such happened.”

More gravely, Nwoko’s team alleges Ann’s direct involvement in procuring an illegal abortion for Regina Daniels while the actress was still legally married to him.
The statement reads; “Ms. Izuegbu Anthonet is also implicated in the procurement of an illegal abortion for Regina Daniels during her lawful marriage to Senator Ned Munir Nwoko. She procured an illegal abortion for Regina, sourced and administered prohibited illegal and contraband substances on her (making her swallow a bunch of weed that left her bleeding for weeks), and caused the loss of his unborn child.”

Nwoko characterised the circumstances as gruesome and deeply troubling, noting that a formal witness statement on these matters was submitted to the Maitama Police Station as far back as October 2025, with investigations still actively underway.
Ann was taken into custody in Lagos around January 12, 2026, held for approximately two nights, and subsequently released, with the case now adjourned to March 5, 2026, for further proceedings.
