Nigerian disc jockey and media personality Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has revealed that she does not see herself marrying a Nigerian man.
Speaking during a recent podcast appearance, the daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola explained that her experiences in the dating scene have shaped her views on relationships.
According to her, one of the last men she dated seemed more interested in meeting her father than building a genuine connection with her.
She said situations like that have made her question the intentions of some men who approach her, adding that she often feels they are more fascinated by her famous family background than by who she is as a person.
She also noted that, contrary to what many may assume, her father is not concerned about who she eventually marries and simply wants to see her settle down and find happiness.
The music star has previously spoken openly about her search for love. In an earlier podcast interview, she revealed that she had dated men from different backgrounds, including a bus driver and a man who still lived with his mother.
Reflecting on those experiences, she admitted that her desire to find love sometimes left her vulnerable, with some people taking advantage of her openness and emotional investment.
Over the years, Cuppy has been candid about both the highs and lows of her personal life. Last year, she once again shared her thoughts on being single, joking that she attended another charity gala without a special partner by her side.
She said:“I can never marry a Nigerian. It’s impossible. The last one I dated was asking me when he could meet my dad. I didn’t even think they liked me.
She continued: “My dad doesn’t even care who I marry; he just wants me to get married.That’s why I’m so happy for Temi and Eazi.”

Despite this, she also highlighted some of the benefits of single life, including enjoying peaceful dinners alone without the pressure of making conversation.
