Nollywood actress and producer, Debbie Shokoya, has opened up on why she chose Islam after her marriage even though she was born into a Christian family.
Shokoya explained that her decision was personal and based on her relationship with God.
According to her, what matters most is love, humanity, and how people treat one another.
She stressed that religion should not be seen as a competition, conflict, or debate, but as a way of life that promotes peace and compassion.
The actress also noted that she does not discriminate between religions. She said her way of worship is based on personal comfort and her direct connection with God.
Shokoya further maintained that humanity should always come first in dealings with people, no matter their tribe, religion, or background.

Speaking via her Instagram page, she wrote, “Christianity by birth, Muslim by marriage over here. God is love! Humanity always. I have never been a discriminator of any religion. My relationship with God is what matters most and how I treat my fellow human being.
“It’s not a war, it’s not a competition, neither is it a debate. Preach love and act in love first. No matter the religion, no matter the color, no matter the tribe, love comes first because God is love.”
