American singer and rapper Melissa Viviane Jefferson, better known as Lizzo, has opened up about the decline in her fanbase, saying changes in the music industry have played a major role in the shift.
The Grammy-winning artiste shared her thoughts in response to a fan on X who pointed out that her popularity appeared to have declined over the past two years.
According to Lizzo, much of her success originally came from radio airplay, describing herself as a “radio darling” whose music reached many listeners through traditional broadcasting platforms.

She explained that the music industry’s growing focus on streaming has affected her reach and contributed to the loss of a large portion of her audience.

Beyond changes in how music is consumed, Lizzo also suggested that people are actively working against her career.
The singer claimed she has faced sabotage and added that she is currently doing everything possible to remain strong and keep her career afloat despite the challenges.

Lizzo wrote:”The industry changed so much in the last 3 yrs. streaming replaced radio and I was a radio darling. That’s how my fans discovered my music. Not to mention the very obvious and public attack on my career changed things.”
