Why I Named My Album ‘Restless II’ – Simi
Over the weekend, Afropop singer and new mum Simi revealed why she named her last EP Restless II.
In an interview with Nadeska Alexis on Apple Music, Simi shared some details about her last musical project. Also, she talked about new motherhood, her evolution as an artiste, and what it’s like being married to a fellow artiste.
Simi explained that the title Restless II was the perfect description for where she was in life at that point. She said about the first Restless, “I think because of the energy that I feel right before I put out any Restless project. Like the first song was because I was literally restless.”
“I hadn’t gotten signed to my record label. So, I had all this energy and all this music, and I just wanted my birth. You know, so I was feeling restless literally.”
Then about the second instalment: “And, this time around, I was restless about the next phase, you know, what to do next. You know, ’cause, you know, you already done some things.”
Simi continued, “You already know the things you’re capable of, and you have a certain comfort zone. So, I was gonna step out. And, it’s just the energy that I was feeling, I felt like it’d be accurate to… go under that, you know, moniker as well.”
Simi then spoke about her husband, Adekunle Gold. The 32-year-old called him one of her favourite artistes and writers. According to her, they feed off each other’s energies; with a deeper understanding of their struggles because they are in the same business.
