Davido, a Nigerian recording artiste whose real name is David Adeleke, has declared on his X account that he is Igbo by blood.
Davido made this revelation on Tuesday, May 20, via his X account following a troll who scrutinized him for being too ‘accommodating’ of Igbos.
The troll wrote, “Davido just dey carry Ibo full body, until when dem betray am before e rest, Yoruba boy dey frolick with Ibos in 2025, they want your head and everything you have to belong to them, you can never satisfy Ibos ooo, IBOs are not people you surround yourself with as a Yoruba man”

Responding to the troll, Davido wrote, “I am Igbo by blood.”
The Igbo people are an ethnic group found in Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, and Equatorial Guinea. Their primary origin is found in modern-day Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States, while others can be found in the Niger Delta and along the Cross River. The Igbo people are one of the largest ethnic groups in Africa.
Meanwhile, Davido, who is one of the most influential musicians in modern Afrobeats history is of mixed Nigerian ancestry. His father, Deji Adeleke is a Yoruba man who hails from Osun state, however, his mother (Davido’s grandmother) is Igbo, while his late mother, Veronica Adeleke is from Edo state.
The Nigerian recording artiste is married to Chioma Rowland, who is of Igbo descent.

Davido Works With Bright Chimezie
Famous Afrobeats star, Davido, has made good on his promise to host Bright Chimezie at his Lagos home.
The warm gesture comes after Davido’s hit track “With You” featured a sample from Chimezie’s classic song “Because of English”.
Chimezie had earlier expressed his appreciation for Davido’s nod to his work, praising the Afrobeats star for incorporating his iconic sound into his new track.
In return, Davido showed his gratitude for Chimezie’s kind words, hailing him as a legend and an inspiration in the music industry.
On Monday, Chimezie arrived at Davido’s residence, where the two musicians shared a warm moment, exchanging pleasantries and laughter.
As they spent time together, Davido introduced Chimezie to his team, and the pair were spotted dancing and jamming to the music that brought them together.
