Nollywood actor Mike Ezuruonye has responded to online rumors that linked him to occult practices after a video from the Lagos premiere of Toyin Abraham’s film Oversabi Aunty went viral.
In the video, Mike is seen dancing with Abraham and tossing money around her head before giving it to her. Some people on social media thought the gesture had a spiritual meaning.
Mike explained that he spoke out “because of Toyin and her family.” He said his actions were simply part of the dance and meant to show support for a fellow actor.

“Usually, I wouldn’t do this; everybody knows it is not in my character. I wouldn’t even answer this kind of nonsense. But because of this person involved, because I love this person and the family dearly, I will respond to this nonsense… I was celebrating a sister, dancing with her…and doing the robo robo dance and all of that. Apparently, it has turned to Juju… What is your thought process? I think if you are diabolical, that is when you think like this.”
He further admonishes critics to focus on positive things instead of reading spiritual meaning into a celebratory moment. In a caption, he wrote:

“Some people see joy and create useless/baseless stories. Pure Love Rules @toyin_abraham. God with you and your family always. You have my unending support.”
Toyin Abraham also thanked Mike in the comments. The premiere drew several Nollywood stars, including Iyabo Ojo, Mercy Eke, Mercy Aigbe, and Chizzy Alichi.
