Media personality Daddy Freeze has shared his unfiltered thoughts after attending the service of songs held in honour of late Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo, sparking debate across social media.

In a lengthy post, Daddy Freeze addressed the backlash he received for wearing black to the event, explaining that he was unaware guests had been instructed to wear white.

“I did not see the Instagram post and did not notice the dress code on the IV sent to me,” he wrote, adding that black remains the traditional color of mourning where he comes from.

Reflecting on the ceremony, Daddy Freeze questioned certain aspects of the event, particularly the service’s atmosphere and structure. “Do people understand what a funeral is?” he asked, suggesting that some elements felt more like a celebration than a solemn gathering to mourn a life cut short.

The broadcaster also alleged that several phones were stolen during the event, describing the reports as disappointing given the nature of the occasion.

Daddy Freeze also weighed in on the controversy surrounding Ekubo’s private life. Responding to actor Yul Edochie’s criticism of the late actor over his decision to keep his wife away from public scrutiny, Daddy Freeze wrote: “To Yul Edochie that blamed Alex for not showing his wife before he died, what is your business with the wife? Do you want to start dating her? Everything is not clout.”

His comments have since generated mixed reactions online. While some social media users agreed with his observations, others defended the service, arguing that celebrations of life can take different forms depending on personal beliefs and traditions.
