American model, television personality, actress, and activist Amber Rose has spoken out against rising expectations for costly romantic outings, saying modern dating culture is becoming overly expensive.
Speaking on the Ball in the Family podcast, Rose said she is comfortable going on dates anywhere, but believes the current trend of expensive outings is “spoiling” the experience for her.

Her comments come amid a growing phenomenon known as “dateflation,” where the average cost of a first date is estimated at between $200 and $300.
While discussing dating culture, she suggested that the pressure around expensive outings is often exaggerated, as many relationships do not require high spending to begin meaningfully.

Rose also addressed broader dating dynamics, noting that although “82% of men still cover the costs of dates,” a growing number of women, about “30% to 46%,” now prefer to split the bill.
She explained that this shift is often driven by a desire to avoid “transactional dynamics,” reduce pressure, and move away from overly flashy experiences
