The pathologist who performed the autopsy to determine the cause of death of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, informed the coroner that the deceased’s body had already decomposed by the time the examination was conducted.
It would be recalled that the preliminary enquiries into the death of the late music star began on Friday, September 29, 2024, at the Magistrate court in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
Speaking at the Coroner court on Friday, the pathologist gave his testimony, disclosing that he conducted a series of tests, from a spinal cord injury check to a drug test, but it all came negative.
He added that Mohbad’s body had really decomposed because after he died, he was not taken to the mortuary but buried the following day.
According to the pathologist: “I conducted a spine examination to check for any spinal cord injury and it was negative. He had no injury on his spinal cord. I also carried out series of tests for any traces of drug abuse because a lot of people are carrying the rumour that he was a drug addict and it came out negative.
“I also checked if there was any disease and it was negative too. Mohbad’s body had really decomposed because after he d!ed, he was not taken to the mortuary and he was buried the following day. They didn’t exhume him until about 7 days after.
“This really affected the test I carried out on him so the result of the cause of death is undeterminable.”
Mohbad, a former record label signee of Marlian Music owned by Naira Marley, died on September 12 at the age of 27, with the circumstances surrounding his death sparking controversy on social media.
The Lagos State Police Command however inaugurated a 13-man special investigation team to probe the death on September 18, 2023.
His death also led to the arrest of Naira Marley and controversial Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, aka Sam Larry, amongst others.
His corpse was exhumed on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy to unravel the cause of his death.
