Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has called on the Nigerian government to review the use of TikTok in the country.
This cry out comes after the arrest of a mother in Anambra State for sexually abusing her underage daughter and sharing the videos online for profit.
In a post shared on social media, Olayinka stated: “A Social Media platform that allows anything, including that horrific video of a money using D!ldo on a 7-year-old girl should not be allowed in any sane society. Methinks use of TikTok in Nigeria should be reviewed by the govt.”

The statement comes after Anulika Onyeanusia, 36, was arrested by the Anambra State Police Command in Onitsha. Videos circulating online showed the woman using sex toys on her young daughter who is around eight years old, with the child crying and pleading for her to stop.
She admitted during interrogation that she had earned as much as $300 from distributing the material and blamed “the devil.” Police also rescued four children aged two, three, six and nine, and recovered sex toys from the scene.
Public reaction to both the original case and Olayinka’s call has been intense. Many Nigerians online have welcomed the aide’s intervention, seeing it as a necessary response to platforms that enable the monetisation of child sexual abuse material.
Commenters who had already expressed outrage over the mother’s apparent lack of remorse and comfortable posture during questioning now extended their anger to the platforms that allowed the content to spread.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
