Will Smith and Martin Lawrence Named Honorary Police Officers

On Sunday, January 12, the Miami Police Department named the two Hollywood actors, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, who plays Miami cops Make Lowrey and Marcus Burnett in the movie Bad Boys for Life, Honorary police officers. The city of Miami also declared Jan. 12 as “Bad Boys For Life Day.”

They’ve earned their police badges and are always welcome here in Miami,” the department tweeted.

The third installment of the “Bad Boys” movie franchise, Bad Boys for life, which is the third movie Smith, 51, and Lawrence, 54, have starred in together, premiered Sunday evening in Miami Beach with the movie set for a nationwide release this Friday.

The first installment of “Bad Boys” was in 1995 directed by Michael Bay in his directorial debut and produced by Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer.

An excited Will Smith took to Instagram to celebrate the achievement. He wrote:

“Been rockin’ with Miami for over 25 years and today me and @martinlawrence got the keys to the city and were officially made honorary Miami Police officers!! Big thanx @francisxsuarez and @pitbull (happy BDay) for setting us up! #badboysforlife,” the 51-year-old actor shared on Instagram alongside a series of photos and videos of the two men receiving their keys.
