Reekado Banks, Nigerian singer has opened up about his past conflict with fellow artist Wizkid, revealing that the Starboy Entertainment boss has since expressed regret over their public fallout during the #EndSARS protests in 2020.
The rift between the two singers began in October 2020 when Reekado Banks announced the release of a collaborative single, Omo Olomo, at the peak of nationwide protests against police brutality. The announcement didn’t sit well with Wizkid, who had temporarily paused all music-related promotions in solidarity with the movement. In a now-deleted tweet, Wizkid lashed out at Reekado, calling him a “fool” and a “clout animal,” which shocked fans across the country.
In a recent interview on The Esther Show, Reekado Banks revisited the incident and shared new details about what transpired behind the scenes. He disclosed that he had initially opposed releasing the song at that sensitive time, but his management team overruled him and pushed forward with the release.
“Truthfully, I didn’t want the song to come out at that moment,” Reekado said. “It was my management that insisted we go ahead. I understood the climate of the country at the time and I didn’t think it was appropriate.”

However, the tension between the two stars has since been resolved. Reekado revealed that Wizkid recently visited his restaurant, and during their conversation, the Essence crooner acknowledged that his response back then was too harsh.
“Recently he [Wizkid] came visiting my restaurant. We had a little talk and he was a little regretful about it,” Reekado said. “He admitted he shouldn’t have responded the way he did. He even referenced his behavior towards Don Jazzy and expressed remorse.”
Reekado also noted that both he and Wizkid, along with music executive Don Jazzy, recently suffered the loss of their mothers, a shared grief that has brought them closer and reminded them of the importance of unity and compassion in the industry.
“He said we are three people in the game who recently lost our moms, and he feels sorry about how everything played out back then,” Reekado added. “So, we are good now.”
The reconciliation between the two artists has been welcomed by fans who have long hoped to see them put the past behind and possibly work together again.
