Wizkid reveals interest in acting movies
Wizkid, Nigerian singer and songwriter, has expressed an interest in the film industry.
The artist revealed what types of roles he is interested in playing in an Instagram story earlier today, November 20, 2023. “Shebi I tell una I one Dey act film!… I just want Dey kiss and shoot gun for movie,” he says. “Daz all!!”
He also revealed a talent that his fans were unaware of. “Yeah, and I want Dey slap people for film… na my hidden talent be dat,” he said.
This comes after the singer revealed in an interview with BBC Radio 1xtra how much he enjoys films, particularly those from the Nigerian film industry. “I’m a big fan of similar films as well; I’m a big fan of Nollywood”.
He went on to say that having a sense of humour is an important skill for a Nigerian actor to have in order to succeed in the industry. “I don’t think I would ever act in Nollywood; I don’t know if I’m that funny, because you need a special type of skill and talent to be a Nollywood actor” , he said.
Despite his outspoken opposition to acting, Wizkid has made it clear that he prefers to work in the Nigerian film industry. “Perhaps producing one Nollywood film one day would be something I’d like to do,” the singer said.
