Wrap Up: From Joeboy’s Album Release to MAMA Postponement

The week (Monday, February 1, to Saturday, February 6, 2021), was quite eventful. With singer Joeboy‘s album release and the postponement of MTV Base‘s MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA), it might have been hard to keep up with all the events that happened.

Music star,  Joseph Akinfenwa-Donus aka Joeboy, released his highly-anticipated debut album, Somewhere Between Beauty & Magic.

The 14-track album feature productions from renowned producers, including E Kelly, Killertunes and Semzy. 

The body of work which didn’t feature any artistes aside from Joeboy, was mixed by Oxygen Mix and mastered by E Kelly, Oxygen Mix, and Air.

Popular singer, Teni announced the title and release date for her much-anticipated debut album.

This is coming on the heels of her Quarantine Playlist EP with DJ Neptune which has left fans even more excited for her upcoming project. 

Teni announced on Twitter that the album is titled “WONDALAND”and will be released in March.

She wrote: “The time is near….. And the album shall be called “WONDALAND” #MARCH2021 #WONDALAND.”

Nigerian kids, Ikorodu Bois, famous for remaking videos and movie trailers, and Emmanuella, a 10-year-old Youtube comedienne, were nominated for the 2021 Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards.

The award organisers released the nominee list for the annual US children award which has been scheduled for broadcast on March 15.

Ikorodu Bois and Emmanuella was nominated in the ‘Favourite African Social Media Star category and are up against Elsa Majimbo, Kenyan social media figure; Bonang Matheba (South Africa), and Wiam Van den Berg, South Africa social media magician.

BBNaija star, Kiddwaya confirmed that he’s no longer in a relationship with Erica.

Recall that on Sunday, January 10, 2021, Kiddwaya in an interview with Punch said he doesn’t have a love life, adding that he’s seeking love.

“I would be committed to a long-term marriage. I don’t think I have a love life. I think I have a life and I am trying to find love,” he was quoted as saying in the interview.

However, a fan asked what he meant in the interview, and Kiddwaya, 27, took to his Instagram stories to respond, saying: “I feel like I need to explain myself here! So listen up carefully.

“Erica was my girlfriend at the time, and I didn’t want people to be too involved. I wanted it to be private. That’s why I said what I said.

“And sadly my words got twisted and it brought a lot of drags! Positive vibes from now on pls.”

According to documents obtained by blogger, Linda Ikeji, Franklin and Esoro successfully got a divorce on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at an Abuja High Court.

The marriage between artiste manager Ubi Franklin and actress Lilian Esoro was officially over.

MTV Base, the organisers of MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA), postponed the 2021 edition of the show.

The award, as stated in a mail to media houses, was postponed indefinitely.

The ceremony which was scheduled to hold on Saturday, February 20, 2021, in Kampala, Uganda, would no longer hold due to the “current health and safety challenges.”
