#xenophobia: Basketmouth Opts Out Of SA Award Show

Ace Nigerian comedian, Basketmouth has cancelled his appearance at an award show in South Africa, following the recent assault on Nigerians in the country.

The bold step by the comedian is coming amidst other celebrity actions by fellow luminaries in Nigeria.

Only recently, Tiwa Savage declared her decision to pull out of a South African festival in which she was supposed to perform.

Basketmouth who was scheduled to appear at the “Funny Money” Comics Choice Awards set to hold in the country this weekend, took to his Instagram to air his views on the xenophobic attacks.

He wrote: “I am not sure how and when we got here. I won’t be attending the Comics Choice Awards this weekend in S.A as scheduled. It might sound like a whisper but together our voices and the right actions will hopefully make a true difference and real change can begin. But for today, we stand.”
