Yemi Alade Announces Plan to Sign Two Female Artistes

Nigerian Afro-pop singer, Yemi Alade has announced her plan to sign two female artistes.

The self-acclaimed Mama Africa who signed a licensing deal with Universal Music Group in September of 2019 revealed this on twitter.

According to her, the two singers must be between the ages of 18 and 20 years old.

Although the singer has not disclosed whether she would sign them to Effyzzie Music Group which she has been signed on to since she began her career or a new record label.

She wrote: I want to sign 2 female artists between the age range of 18 years old to – 20 years old. Send your music through.

Yemi Alade gained prominence after winning the Peak Talent Show in 2009. Her debut studio album King of Queens was released on October 2, 2014, by Effyzzie Music Group. The album was preceded by three singles: “Johnny”, “Tangerine” and “Kissing”. Alade promoted the album by touring several African countries, including Ghana, Kenya and South Africa. The deluxe edition of King of Queens was released in November 2014, and contains French versions of songs originally performed in English. Its cover art was unveiled on 21 October 2014. According to the music platform, A Nation of Billions, King of Queens sold over 100,000 copies.

Alade‘s second studio album Mama Africa was released on March 25, 2016, by Effyzzie Music Group. The album was the follow-up to her debut studio album King of Queens. Mama Africa was made available for pre-order on iTunes a week before its official release. Alade announced that proceeds from the sale of the album will go to the Feed a Child charity initiative. The deluxe edition of the album was released on April 6, 2016, and features guest vocals from South African musician Bucie and AKA.

In July 2019, Alade became the first African female artist to reach one million subscribers on YouTube. Her hit song ‘Johnny’ currently holds YouTube record for the most watched African Female music video of all time. Alade was also featured on “Don’t Jealous Me”, a track from Beyonce‘s soundtrack album The Lion King: The Gift. She appeared on the track alongside Mr Eazi and Tekno.
