Controversial Nigerian cleric Prophet Chukwuemeka Odumeje, popularly known as Pastor Odumeje, has offered heartfelt encouragement to Afrobeats superstar Davido following his defeat at the 68th Grammy Awards.
In a viral video clip from a recent sermon, shared widely across social media platforms, Odumeje addressed Davido’s loss in the Best African Music Performance category.
Davido, nominated for his track “With You” featuring Omah Lay, was edged out by South African artist Tyla, who clinched her second Grammy win for “Push 2 Start.”
This marked Davido’s fifth unsuccessful Grammy nomination, sparking disappointment among fans despite widespread pride in his global impact.

“Davido has already received a generational award,” he declared. “No other award can add meaning to his life; his life itself is an award. Don’t let some ordinary trophy someone made steal your happiness. The world already knows you without a Grammy.”
The cleric emphasised that Davido’s fame, influence, wealth, and contributions to music far outweigh any external validation. “Grammy don’t make us to know you, Davido. We know you as a good singer,” he added, urging the artist not to let the setback diminish his confidence or joy.
