Nigerian singer Victony has sparked reactions online after appearing to turn down a request from an unnamed music star seeking a remix of his trending song, “Slick.”
In a post shared on his Instagram Story, the singer claimed that the person had previously sent him direct messages, which he allegedly ignored. According to Victony, the same person has now returned with a request to feature on a remix of “Slick.”

He wrote that he had previously reached out to the individual but was “snubbed,” before questioning why the person was now contacting him for a remix.

Victony further appeared to take a swipe at the artiste’s current level of popularity, writing, “This is not 2020,” and adding that the person was no longer “popping like Davido or Burna” before rejecting the request.
Although Victony did not mention the person’s name in the post, his reference to Davido and Burna Boy has fuelled speculation among fans about who he was addressing.
The post comes as “Slick” continues to gain momentum. The song recently topped the UK Afrobeats chart for the fourth consecutive week, according to reports based on Official Charts Company data.
While the identity of the alleged requester remains unclear, Victony’s blunt response has already generated debate among music fans online.
