You’re Only As Good As Your Performance – Toni Tones

Nigerian Singer/Actor/Photographer, Toni Tones features on the latest episode of Accelerate TV’s “The Whole Truth”. She tells the story of her journey through 3 different disciplines and how she is successfully juggling the 3 careers.

Speaking on her music career, Toni Tones shared; “I am still an artiste. Ever since I was a child I have always wanted to act and sing. But after school, I moved back to Nigeria and I started my career as a fashion photographer because I already had a portfolio from my work in the UK so that helped me. So I had to do a lot to be accepted as an actor and a musician because people try to put you in a box and you have to fight to get out of it.”

On typecasting in Nollywood, she said; “Being typecast is not a bad thing. It means constant cheques for some people. When you’re know to play a particular role well you become the first person that comes to mind when such a role comes up. So I say, be the baddest you can at that but also try tomake it known that you can be as versatile as possible. When a “evil stepmother” role comes up you think of Patience Ozokwor, but that doesn’t mean she can’t play other great roles.”

Was her role in “King of Boys” her big break? Find out!
